Kate, age 37, is a single mom of a 12 year old daughter, Shannon. Kate has been diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. She has been through chemo/radiation and surgery. In addition to the problems associated with her having cancer, her father died on August 4, 2008, and she is now in jeopardy of losing her job. In the past, she has donated many volunteer hours to various charitable organizations. It is now our turn to help her.
According to the Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, Kate likely has less than a year to live. One hope they offer and recommend is a “stem cell rescue” transplant. The cost is over $200,000, and Kate’s insurance will not cover any of the expense. The Moffit Cancer Center has pledged to match $100,000 through a grant, so we need to raise more than $100,000 to help with the procedure and assist with Kate and Shannon’s living expenses.
